10 June 2009 The Antigua and Barbuda Tourist Office has announced the appointment of Miss Maria Blackman as Tourism Officer for the UK.

Blackman joins the new Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority having previously worked as Communications Officer (Ag) at the Ministry of Tourism in Antigua.

During her time at the Ministry of Tourism she assisted with the Marketing Department’s development plans, as well as upholding the responsibility of Press Liaison Officer.

Blackman holds a BSc with honours in Tourism Management and brings to the team a good knowledge of the Antigua and Barbuda market.

Blackman will assist both the Marketing & Administration Manager and Antigua and Barbuda’s Director of Tourism for UK & Europe, Hilary Modeste.

James, Chief Executive Officer of the new Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, commented on the appointment: “The appointment of Maria to the London office further demonstrates our commitment to ensure that the UK office is fully staffed with the right competencies as we implement new strategies to meet the challenges of the market head on. Blackman will commence her duties at the UK based Tourist Office on 15 June 2009.
