Marketing your business properly is no joke when it comes to attracting the successful career you deserve.
This article is designed to help you discover some of the most effective ways to market your company and reach your goals.
1. Know Your Audience
Knowing your audience is going to be the key to attracting a strong customer base. If you don’t invest the time necessary to understand fully what your clients are seeking, you’ll fail to deliver. Do your research and ask questions. What are other customers in this niche looking for? What results are they most happy with? What approaches are most effective regarding customer service and interactions? Remaining clueless about your client’s needs will send a message that you don’t care enough to learn more about them, and you’ll end up offering something no one wants, leaving you with a ton of wasted time, capital, and energy.
2. Focus on Customer Service
In order to successfully land helpful referrals and recommendations, as well as positive testimonials to feature on your website, you need to focus on superb customer service. You should show a strong emphasis on interpersonal relationships when building a successful business that serves the public regularly or requires frequent interactions with people. Even if you’re not a “people person” you can still be kind and cordial with all of your customers. People like to feel comfortable and want to trust that you know what they’re looking for and that they’re in good hands. I cannot emphasize the importance of your client’s experience enough because the benefits of someone walking away happy and sharing their experience voluntarily are exponential.
3. Create an Online Presence
If you’re building a business, there’s really no way to get around the necessity for a website. Potential clients need a central hub to access your products and services that is easy to navigate and user-friendly. It also makes you seem more established and organized. If I were going to patronize a business, it would strike me as odd that they didn’t have a website, or at least a Facebook page. Make social media your ally and keep updated pages on various platforms. This will help you funnel more visitors to your website. Get yourself out there and into the internet world, as it’s going to be one of your most valuable ways to market.
4. Put Effort into Email
Don’t underestimate the power of email. Most people are connected to the internet frequently, even having their emails attached to notifications that come right to their phones. You can create a great logo, newsletters, and updates, offer customers promotions, and keep them in the loop about your business. Keep your emails engaging and brief and avoid overloading them with too many. You can include promotional offers, gifts, or discounts for specific days of the week, holidays, or for limited time periods. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve become a patron of a new business solely because they sent me coupons.
5. Focus on Quality Versus Price
Don’t get hung up on your rates because if you’re offering a solid and reliable product or service people will pay for it, period. Put yourself in a consumer’s shoes. If you purchased goods or services from a company and they were an outstanding investment, how much would it be worth to you to always have that experience? Think about how much you would be willing to pay for something that truly reduced stress and helped solve an immediate or long-standing problem in your life with no fuss. Aim to be the best and to offer a dependable product and your performance will speak for itself. I’m not suggesting you rip anyone off with your prices, either. I’m simply saying that if your service is worth what you’re charging, then set the rate and customers will come.
6. Increase Community Engagement
Immerse yourself into the community and create opportunities for yourself to meet new people. Ask questions about what your community may need or services they may be interested in. Reach out to local newspapers, radio stations, and lifestyle magazines to feature you or your product.
7. Get Familiar with SEO
SEO is going to be one of the key ways to pull in prospects to your business. It’s a relatively affordable investment with a big return and works effectively in conjunction with other marketing strategies and content. SEO also enables you to control how your business is featured on search results. Educate yourself on SEO because it could mean big boosts for your company.
8. Don’t Underestimate Old School Techniques
Create brochures, business cards, and send postcards. It’s helpful to have something tangible to look at when deciding on a particular business’s services. An interesting brochure with a catchy headline can go a long way and make sure that your business cards look neat and are printed on sturdy materials, as not to rip or get damaged easily.
10. Follow Up
Don’t forget about your clients after you’ve established a relationship with them. People want to feel important and like their business matters, so put effort into creating those smaller gestures such as remembering birthdays in order to keep them satisfied long after they’ve paid you. Also, remember to say thank you. Show gratitude and appreciation for the decision to choose your company and let them know how much that means to you. It can also help you on your way to more positive referrals.
There are so many effective ways to market your company effectively and these are just a few of the many considerations to make when building a solid customer base. Good luck!
