Instagram doesn’t need any introduction.

It dominates the world of social media platforms and has become an avenue for us through which we share glimpses of our lives with the rest of the world.

However, one of the best features of Instagram is that it allows us to choose who we want to share our daily lives with.

This means that Instagram has the option of public and private accounts

When you want to follow a private account, you have to send the user a request.

Depending on whether they allow it or not, you can see the content on their profile.

But, we often send follow requests to a lot of people and do not necessarily keep track of it.

So, how to see all the users you have sent follow requests to over the years?

That is what we are here for.

How To See Sent Follow Request on Instagram on Phone

When it comes to making friends, Instagram works differently than Facebook.

Here, instead of “friends,” you have followers and if you have a private account, only the people you allow to follow your account can see your content.

But, what about the list of people you have sent requests to over the years? You might want to know those users to see the ones who haven’t accepted your request yet or if you choose to cancel the request.

Fortunately, there is a way you can do so. If you are a mobile Instagram user, follow the steps below to know how to see sent follow request on Instagram.

Step 1: Open the Instagram app and make sure you are logged in to your account.

Step 2: Head over to your Instagram profile by tapping on your profile picture at the bottom of your screen, on the left.

Step 3: Once you are on your profile, tap on the hamburger icon or the three horizontal lines at the top-right corner.

Step 4: From there, go to Settings and then to Security.

Step 5: From the Data and History section, choose Access Data. Next, under Connections, you will come across a section labeled “Current Follow Requests.” Tap on “View all” under that.

That’s it! You will come across a list with the usernames of all the people you have sent a request to on the platform.

Remember that the list is non-clickable, which means that you cannot go to their profiles from here.

How To See Sent Follow Request on Instagram on PC

Are you more of a desktop user? If so, don’t worry because we have got your back.

Seeing your sent follow request list from the desktop version is more reliable.

This is because the Instagram app is always changing with new updates, leading to minuscule changes to how you can navigate through your profile.

However, the desktop version of the platform has remained the same for years, making the steps for doing this far easier.

Thus, if you want to see your follow request list from your PC, here are the steps.

Step 1: Open your preferred browser and visit the official website of Instagram, Instagram.com. Log in to your account using your credentials.

Step 2: Next, go to your profile by tapping on your profile icon. After that, tap on the gear icon at the top of your profile, which indicates the Settings section.

Step 3: Choose ‘Privacy and Security’ from the menu. Scroll a little until you find the “Account Data” section.

Step 4: Click “View Account Data” and scroll till Connections. Over there you will see a section labeled “Current Follow Requests. Tap on “View all” under that.

If you are already logged in to your Instagram account through your browser, you can quickly access the Privacy and Security page through this link: www.instagram.com/accounts/access_tool/current_follow_requests

That’s all! This is how you can see the list of profiles you have sent requests to.

Remember that the list will be plain text. This means that you won’t be able to cancel the request or go to their profile from this list.

Other Ways to Seeing Who You’ve Requested to Follow

What if you don’t want to go through the elaborate “Privacy and Security” method and want other ways to see whom you have requested to follow?

There are a few ways you can do that.

Browse Through Your List of Likes

Instagram

This might seem far-fetched and ridiculous but going through your likes allows you to see the following status of all the users who have liked your content.

When you go through the list, you will see some users have the “Following” tag beside their username, while others have the “Follow” tag.

The former means that the user has accepted your request or their profile was public, to begin with. The latter means that you don’t follow them.

Lastly, you might also see users with the “Requested” tag adjacent to their usernames. This means that these users haven’t accepted the request you have sent them.

Granted that this is unlikely since the people who follow you and have liked your content should also allow you to see their content.

But, still, users often do not do that and this is a great way to find out such users.

Go Through Someone’s Account

There’s a popular concept on Instagram which is “Follow for Follow”. This means that by following an account, you get a follow back.

This is a great way to increase your following count quickly.

If you are someone who wishes to have a big follower count, you must have followed a lot of mutuals on Instagram, hoping they would follow you back.

Thus, another way to find out the users you have sent follow requests to on Instagram is by going through a mutual’s following or following list.

Going through these lists will help you to find out the users you have sent requests to.

If you see the “Requested” tag beside their usernames, it means that you sent them a follow request but they haven’t accepted it yet.

I’m Not Seeing The Profile I Want To

Are you going through your Current Follow Requests list but not seeing the usernames you thought would be there?

This might be because the profiles you sent requested to follow deleted your request.

Just like you can choose to follow someone, users on the other end, also have the option of deleting your request if they know for sure that they are not going to accept your request.

If they do this, the “Requested” tag on your end goes back to the “Follow” tag and that is why you are not seeing the names on your Current Follow Requests list.

How To Cancel Sent Follow Requests

You have gone through your Current Follow Requests list and have seen profiles you want to cancel the follow requests of.

But, as already mentioned, the list is non-clickable, which means that you cannot take any action from there.

Therefore, if you want to cancel a request you have sent to a user, just search their username as you normally would and go to their profile.  Once you are on their profile, tap on the “Requested” button.

Once you tap on it, it will go back to the blue-colored “Follow” button.

Alternatively, if the person follows you but you haven’t been able to follow them back since they haven’t accepted the request you have sent, you can search your follower list or even your likes list to find the username of the person so that you can go to their profile from there.

Similarly, once you visit their profile, tap on the “Requested” button. Once you tap on it, it will go back to the “Follow” button.

Remember that if you tap the Follow button again, it means that you are requesting again to follow them.

The user will be notified of that and your request will go on top of their requests.

How To Get Someone To Accept Your Request

How To Unarchive A Post On Instagram

As mentioned already, a good way to get someone to accept your request is by canceling your request and sending them a request again.

This way, the user will be notified and your request will go on top of their requests.

Maybe the user hadn’t seen your request the first time and this time, they might see your request and accept it.

If this fails, you can also send the user saying that you wish to follow them.

But, remember to not come off as toxic or rude. Make sure not to take this personally.

Many Instagram users who have private profiles like to keep their follower list intimate and if they do not know you personally or very closely, they might not want you to see their content.

Do not think that it’s about you and try to move on.

Final Thoughts

Regardless of how amazing Instagram is, it can still be an overwhelming platform, which is why a lot of users keep their profiles private.

However, many people might need to see the users they have sent follow requests to on Instagram, to take any further action.

Thus, use the steps outlined in this article to see which users you have sent follow requests to on the platform.
